Frequently Asked Questions

In exchange for regular payments (premiums), this life insurance will pay your loved ones (beneficiaries) a lump sum of money (death benefit) if you pass away while covered by the policy. The amount of the lump sum is determined by the size of your insurance policy (your coverage). It can be used by loved ones to help pay for whatever they may need after you’re gone—like housing costs, medical bills, funeral expenses, or childcare.

You might need term life insurance if your loved ones rely on your income to pay for expenses. You should consider how they would manage everyday costs like rent or a mortgage, childcare, and groceries, as well as final expenses like a funeral.

You can keep this coverage up to age 80 as long as you continue to pay premiums and maintain your ANA membership. Premiums are based on your age at the time you initially enroll and increase each time you enter a new 5-year age bracket.

In most cases, you’ll only need to answer a few simple health questions. Medical exams are not usually required but may be necessary based on your medical history. Plus, once you’re covered, you won’t lose coverage as you get older or if your health changes, as long as you maintain your ANA membership.

With the ANA Member Term Life Plan, coverage is available for your spouse or domestic partner, for up to 50% of your coverage amount, and your children, at a flat rate of $10,000 of coverage.

Term Life Insurance is a great way to provide for your family when you’re gone, but it’s also important to consider their financial future if something happens to you while you’re alive, for example, if you’re suddenly injured and unable to work.
